Stream of Consciousness Saturday 31/10/2015 #SoCS

socs-badge-2015Linda’s brief this week is: “strange/stranger/strangest.”  Use one, use ’em all, or just let them inspire you. Have fun!

I know you will find it quite strange,
If you words next these rearrange
We are both quite healthy
Though not very wealthy
And Trevor does not have the mange.

Whenever my dog meets a stranger
He senses potential for danger
He’s up with the lark
With a yelp and a bark
Though it’s really just ‘dog in the manger’.

The strangest part of Halloween
Is that children are heard more than seen
Although it engages
The young of all ages
From three right up to seventeen

In my quest for a little formality
I eschew all paranormality
There’ll be no trick or treat
The length of my street,
(No kids live here, is the reality).

I’d rather write lim’ricks than prose
Though the cause is not what you’d suppose
The reason my dear
Is irrational fear
That too much of myself I’ll expose.

That’s it!

This is my offering to Stream of Consciousness Saturday. The prompt word is “strange/stranger/strangest”.

Here are the rules:

  1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing, (typos can be fixed) and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.
  2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.
  3. There will be a prompt every week. I will post the prompt here on my blog on Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” or “Begin with the word ‘The’.”
  4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours. Your link will show up in my comments, for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top.
  5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read everyone’s! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later, or go to the previous week, by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find right below the “Like” button on my post.
  6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!
  7. Have fun!

Stream of Consciousness Saturday 24/10/2015 #SoCS

socs-badge-2015Linda’s brief this week is: “beef.”  Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

It really does beggar belief
That here in the central massif
We’re in such a hurry
To spoil in a curry
The local grown Charolais beef.

It comes as a welcome relief
To find the red label motif
You really can savour
The delicate flavour
Of local-raised veal (that’s young beef).

Of taste it can oft be bereft
Unless it is expertly cheffed
Served up on a platter
(It’s size doesn’t matter)
By a waiter who’s known to be deft

That’s it!

Stream of Consciousness Saturday 17/10/2015 #SoCS

socs-badge-2015Linda’s brief this week is: “still.”  Use any definition of the word in your post. Have fun!

I’m sitting here perfectly still
Since life dealt me a bitter pill
I ate last night’s curry
In far too much hurry
And now I feel properly ill.

That’s it!
