Cee’s Black & White Challenge: My get-out claws

In one of my occasional forays into accepting photographic challenges, I’ve decided to have a go at Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Hands, Feet or Paws.

This image shows the foot of a male Harris’s Hawk (Parabuteo unicinctus) named Kerry, that I trained for the Hawk Conservancy Trust in the late 1990s. A texture painter at Rhythm and Hues Studio in Los Angeles asked me, in 2004, to produce some detail shots of a mature Harris Hawk, with special emphasis on the eyes and tail structures. This is one of the images I produced for him, simply reduced to monochrome. The studio needed to craft a computer-generated Harris Hawk for use in the 2005 film Elektra, starring Jennifer Garner. If you watch the film, the hawk that appears from Tattoo’s shoulder is Kerry!More images from that set can be seen here

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Open Topic

This is my response to Cee’s latest Black & White Photo Challenge.  This week’s topic is Open Topic, in other words ‘any topic or topics you desire’. I have chosen street scenes as my topic.

I have used a mix of monochrome, sepia toning and ageing on these images, all of which have already appeared here, or will appear here or on its sister blog, Our parking space.
