My effort was

“Okay, Boss. Why have you put me in here?”

“Well, you know I do this blog—”

“Rhymes with dog – yeah, I know. What of it?”

“And every Monday I put up a picture so people can write a story or poem or whatever that the picture suggests.”

“You’ve told me about it before so, yes, you could say I know about it.”

“Well. I just thought a photograph of you in the box might make a good starting point for a story.”

“A story about a dog in a cardboard box?”

“Not exactly that…”

“Oh no. I think I see where this is going. Me being a Jack Russell, you thought putting me in a box would… Tell me, boss, how desperate are you for pictures?”

“This is number two hundred and sixty-nine and it’s getting harder every week. I really don’t want to reuse any if I can avoid it.”

“So you thought a Jack in the—”

“Don’t say that!”

“Don’t say what?”

“You know…”

“Yeah, that.”

“Why not?”

“I was saving that for my punchline.”

On to this week’s challenge: Using this photo as inspiration, write a short story, flash fiction, scene, poem; anything, really; even just a caption for the photograph. Either put it (or a link to it) in a comment or email it to me at before 6pm next Sunday (if you aren’t sure what the time is where I live, this link will tell you). If you post it on your own blog or site, a link to this page would be appreciated, but please do also mention it in a comment here.

Go on. You know you want to. Let your creativity and imagination soar. I shall display the entries next Monday.
