My effort was

Fancy a brew?

“It’s alright in there, Shirl, but it’s not like any tea shop I’ve seen at home.”

“What did you expect? It’s an approximation designed to appeal to the target audience—”

“Which isn’t folk like us, I’ll be bound.”

“Did you buy anything?”

“What for? We can get it cheaper at home.”

“Or have Amazon deliver it.”

“Nah. I’ll stick to going to the shop if you don’t mind.”

“I don’t mind. Does that woman on the mobility scooter look like she’s in trouble?”

“I’ll ask. Excuse me, my love, can I help you?”

“I want to get into the shop but this thing won’t climb the step.”

“You want to get onto the pavement?”

“Don’t be silly. I’m already on the pavement. I want to get onto the sidewalk.”

“That is the pavement. You’re on the road. Either way…”

“The front wheel on this thing is too small to get up onto the sidewalk. Can you help or not?”

“Let me just lift it up the kerb… oof… how’s that?”

“That’s great. It’s alright, you can let go now. I’m not helpless you know.”

“How’d it go, Anne?”

“I yanked her front wheel up the kerb but when I tried to pull it some more to get the back wheels up, she practically accused me of treating her like an invalid. For God’s sake. I was only trying to be helpful.”

“Don’t let her spoil your day, will you? We’re not far from the entrance now, let’s go to the camper and I’ll make us a proper brew.”

On to this week’s challenge: Using this photo as inspiration, write a short story, flash fiction, scene, poem; anything, really; even just a caption for the photograph. Either put it (or a link to it) in a comment or email it to me at keithchanning@gmail.com before 6pm next Sunday (if you aren’t sure what the time is where I live, this link will tell you). If you post it on your own blog or site, a link to this page would be appreciated, but please do also mention it in a comment here.

Go on. You know you want to. Let your creativity and imagination soar. I shall display the entries next Monday.
