Y is for Yeti Crab #AtoZChallenge

As my contribution to the A-Z blogging challenge this year, I shall be offering each day a limerick or rhyme having as its subject the day’s keyword, the keywords being based on a selection of strange, unusual or interesting animals drawn from Strange Animals blog or a-z animals website.

Yeti Crab

In the south of the Pacific Ocean
Lives a creature that’s surely not drab.
Scientifically known as Kiwa hirsuta
Is the strange Yeti Lobster or Crab.

A team of marine biologists,
In March of twenty-oh-five,
Discovered, two kilometers down,
The hairiest lobster alive.

It lives near hot vents in deep ocean,
Where few living things can exist.
The ‘hair’ on its legs and its pincers
Filter poisons and help it persist.

  1. I thought you were going to say “its pincers filter poisons and help it to pizz.” But you had a sturdier rhyme!
I’m going to miss these daily creatures – oh that April had 31 days!
